ΜΙΑ PERIPETEIA

Vassilis Evmolpidis presented his first book MIA PERIPETEIA (One adventure) Travel to the World on 24 May 2017 in the Cultural Center of Constantinoupolitans, in Athens. The book stems from the legacy and importance of travelling that was left to him from his parents, which he wants to pass on to his own family and to the readers of the book.

In this book Vassilis presents his experiences from travelling to 26 out of the 73 countries that he has visited throughout the world. Trips were made for education, business and tourism purposes between the years 1973 and 2013. In his descriptions Vassilis highlights the presence and importance of Hellenism, Greeks and Greek language even in the most remote places of the world.

The title MIA PERIPETEIA using two Greek words, the latter being written with Latin letters, stems from the fact that this word is used in the Balkans -and in other countries– with the same meaning as in Greek i.e. adventure. Indeed travelling constitutes a never ending adventure for any person. As Nikos Kazantzakis, the famous Greek author, wrote: “Travelling satisfies my need for freedom! Travelling has taken me out to the world. Trips have opened my eyes”.

The cover of the book and the internal illustration with 19 original collages was done by Mariana Evmolpidou, daughter of Vassilis.

Vassilis has assigned the rights of the book to the Cultural Center of Constantinoupolitans. All revenues will be used for the humanitarian and philanthropic activities of the Center.
